This book was an immediate success with the public and was issued in the same year asthe first edition in a full vellum edition of 50 copies of which this is one. The “Observer” hailed it as, “An enchanting book, and one that is certain of deepening affection in every house in which it finds its way”. “The Listener” described it as “A kind of Anatomy of Childhood.” This presentation copy is signed by the author, “Walter De La Mare with all good wishes June 11 1952”. A near fine copy.
