Number 77 of 285 copies set in Centaur & Arrighi types and printed on a special making of Zekall mould-made paper. 12.75 X 9.5 ins. Not paginated but 52 French-fold pp. Half bound in Pirate leather with pictorial paper covered lightweight boards with colour endpapers. Title page printed in cadmium yellow and black. 80 wood engravings cut on boxwood, maple, pear, lemonwood and lino with one on resingrave. Includes 4 tipped-in engravings printed in colour on lightweight Korean and Japanese hand-made colour papers. A remarkable artist’s book beautifully printed by the Whittington Press. Craig sets out to capture Venice in a different way to all the artists preceding him. As he states, “For this reason I have chosen to ignore the better known set pieces and illustrate as an innocent holiday maker wandering – open mouthed – without plan or guide through the small and less well known parts of the city”.
