Preface by Eric Gill. One of 300 copies printed under the supervision of the engraver at Hague & Gill, Pigotts, High Wycombe. First edition. 12.75 x 10.25 ins. xv, 102 pp. Bound in green cloth with dust-jacket and slipcase. 108 wood engravings printed from the original blocks including those from “The Four Gospels” and “The Canterbury Tales”. 7 of the engravings not previously published. Printed following the success of Douglas Cleverdon’s publication of Gill’s engravings in 1929. Book in fine condition with very light foxing to top edge. Dust-jacket near fine. Slipcase with fading and some marks. This copy noted “from the Faber Library.” A remarkably bright copy with all tissue guards still in place. Covering the high point of Gill’s wood engraving.
