Set in Monotype Bembo with text printed on Zerkall mould-made paper and wood engravings printed on hand-made Japanese Gampi Vellum. Volume I: Wood engravings from “the Fables of Esope” with “The Story of a Remarkable Book” by Ian Rogerson. 36 pp. with 28 wood engravings + Colophon. Volume II: wood engravings from “XXI Welsh Gypsy Folk-Tales” with “John Sampson and the Gypsies of Wales” by Ian Rogerson. 56 pp. with 17 wood engravings + Colophon. Both volumes printed and bound at Gregynog by David Esslemont, David Vickers and Alan Wood. Quarter cloth (vol. I mustard, vol. II red) with paper covered boards after a repeat pattern by Agnes Miller Parker. Black spine titling. Fore and bottom edges uncut, All the wood engravings have been printed recto from the original blocks held in the National Library of Wales. A monumental effort spanning two years and one of the more impressive productions of the late 20th century. Each volume housed in matching cloth and paper covered slipcase. As new.
