Set in 12/15 pt Monotype Baskerville and printed on Basingwerk Parchment paper by the Compton Press in association with Skelton’s Press. 11.5 X 8.25 ins. 136 pp. Quarter blue morocco with Ingres paper covered boards. Gilt spine titling and gilt decoration on upper cover after Nash drawing. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. 122 illustrations throughout text and 4 colour plates. Book and portfolio of wood engravings housed in a marbled paper covered slipcase with paper title label. The six wood engravings by John Nash were printed from the original wood blocks on J. Green mould-made paper by Will Carter at the Rampant Lions Press, Cambridge. Each of the wood engravings is numbered 13/150 and bears the stamp of the Trustees of the John Nash Estate. The engravings are titled: “The Book of the Tree frontispiece 1927”, “The Fisherman 1931”, “A Cottage in Gloucestershire 1925”, “Threshing 1925”, “Epiphyllum in Flower c. 1925” and “Cyclamen persicum c. 1924”. A very fine copy in original slipcase.
